Yes, I am alive.

Yes ladies and gentlemen, I am alive and well.

I took the summer off of working on the remake so I could focus on converting my Sprinter van for a Blue Ridge Trip. We put about 3,000 miles on the little diesel van and it did great!

I'm back at it with a fresh mindset and plenty more work to do. Before vacation, I converted a map of Europe from SVG to a 3D model. It's not perfect, but it'll be our world map for a bit. My area of expertise is actually with UI design and binding, so after I imported the map and added some water I started re-designing the UI.

The UI was redesigned to take up more width along with the deck leader 3D model being removed in favor of the deck leader image. I also animated it while I was at it.

You can also see the changes in the "SYSTEM" buttons and animations.

I also created tools inside the Unity editor (complete with UI and everything) to ease creation of map points and assigning duelist data. It should be fairly easy to parameterize the duels per location.

I'm also of course, toying around with post processing and many other things.

The game is on a pretty straight forward track right now, it's just a matter of actually getting it done now. I should have some more free-time now that I'm not spending every beautiful day outside working on the van....

Much of the work on the van and vlog is also being uploaded to my other YouTube channel, Florida Van Man. If that happens to also be one of your interests, check out our channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCn18qi_kHiGtWeSN-cQpG2A

As always, the immediate progress videos will be posted to my YouTube channel but I still plan to come and update you guys on the devlog.

Cheers,

Mike

This is hysterical. I can't believe this is happening.

Two weeks ago, I was thinking of how badly I wanted another Duelist of Roses, and decided to make my own tactical RPG game inspired by it. Something new, but would give me what I wanted from Duelist of Roses, and more, with added things I think the game was lacking. Right now I haven't written a single line of code on the actual project. I'm brand new to Unity and have been making games following tutorials to learn about the platform. I can already tell this project is going to take me 2-3 years. One step at a time, as they say.

Back to your project, I was also sad that I couldn't get a decent emulator to work on my mac, to replay and study the game with a more critical eye. So thank you, thank you for doing this. This will be very helpful in the development of my own game. I'll also be watching your dev log for any nuggets of information that I think will be worth looking into, like ScriptedObjects.

I'm going to pick through more of your development log materials. I want to learn more about how you built this so that I can learn about more Unity features.

Thanks so much again!
